Cracks that appear in concrete have many different causes, the essence of which is the poor bending ability of concrete. Visible cracks often occur when the bending stress is greater than the bending capacity of the concrete. These cracks create easy conditions for agents to penetrate the concrete and access the structure, leading to structural damage.
With many years of experience in the field of waterproofing. MOWA Company would like to share its experience and construction methods for crack treatment as follows:
I. CAUSES OF CRACKS:
• Cracks occur before the concrete cures.
• Concrete floor cracks appear when the concrete has hardened
• Floor cracks occur during operation and use.
• Cracking of concrete floors due to lack of bearing capacity.
• Cracks due to errors in design and construction
• Concrete cracking due to foundation settlement
• Cracks due to corrosion of concrete structures (port structures).
II. METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION AND TREATMENT OF CRACKS:
• Depending on the size of the crack, we can use high-pressure pumps, cylinders, etc. to perform waterproofing.
• Use specialized cleaning tools to clean dirt and impurities on the crack surface.
• Then use a chisel or a specialized cutter to create a V-shaped groove. The size of the groove depends on the crack. But usually 1.5cm wide and 1cm deep.
• After cleaning the V-shaped groove, start treating the crack with the following materials: Expanded PU glue SL668, Expanded PU glue SL669, Epoxy glue SL1400, Sikadur 731, Sikadur 732
